A mouth ulcer is an inflammatory condition characterized by the appearance of an ulcerated swelling or sore on the inner surface of the mouth (oral mucosa) and causes pain.

Mouth ulcer can be smaller (canker sore) or larger aphthous ulcer. It most often occurs on the inside of the cheeks (cheeks) and the inside of the lips, but it can also appear on the palate and the underside or tips of the tongue.
